Referring to TLS 1.0 in the PCI document, PCI DSS Standard, it states:
"SSL and early TLS are not considered strong cryptography and cannot be used as a security control after June 30, 2018. Prior to this date, existing implementations that use SSL and/or early TLS must have a formal Risk Mitigation and Migration Plan in place."
In order to provide the strongest encryption and best security for our customers, Blackbaud K–12 will be disabling TLS 1.0 for all Blackbaud Products as well as secure forms on public websites on March 15, 2018. This warning page will display for anyone using Unsupported Browsers until that time.
When TLS 1.0 is disabled, some older browsers will no longer have access to any Blackbaud product.
TLS 1.1 and 1.2 can be enabled on the following browsers but is disabled by default.
- Internet Explorer v8-10 on Windows 7 and newer
- Stock Android Browser v4.4-v4.4.4 (all Kit Kat)
- Firefox v23-26
- Mobile Internet Explorer v10
- Opera v8
- Opera v10-12.17

Vidya Mandir @ Estancia is a name that has come to stay in Vallanchery. We have indeed come a long way from the small school that we were in 2009! Our teaching-learning practices that attracted many a raised eyebrow in the beginning is now accepted with comfort & conviction by our parent community. At this juncture I - on behalf of myself and my team, would like to express my thanks to our parents for your co-operation and patience.
Our second batch of 18 students attempted the AISSE exams in March 2014 and scored a 100% Pass with R.Sivagami getting an A1 in all the subjects. The overall performance of the students was commendable! The school opened Class 11 in April 2014 with a student strength of 24, spread over 4 subject groups. Well experienced teachers with prior experience in handling the senior secondary classes have been recruited.
The school now has a strength of 683 students, 48 teaching Staff and 13 non teaching and admin staff. Apart from this we have a fully functional Learning Centre with 3 trained teachers
Many infrastructural improvements have taken place too! The second floor of the second phase has been completed and is functional now, though we had to re open school a week later for the primary section to accommodate this. Every classroom is now a SMART Classroom, each having its own smart board system. At this juncture I would like to announce that Zoho Corporation Pvt Ltd. has entered into the existing partnership with VMMLC and Arun Excello to expand the operations of Vidya mandir @ Estancia. A new block has been sanctioned across the road, which we hope will become operational from June 2015. It is proposed to shift the Middle & High School to the new building and retain KG to Class 5 here in this building.
We have added another Volley Ball court which will double as a throwball court next to the existing one.
The Sports Day for 2013-14 saw Kailash House as the champions. This year's Sports Day was conducted at JRK CBSE School at Kattankalathur. Nanga Parbhat emerged as champions. The Inter School Junior Volley Ball Championship instituted this year was a colossal success!
Project Day 2013 was based on the topic "Textiles". The students excelled themselves with their charts, models and presentations. It was a totally eco- friendly project which was thoroughly enjoyed by one and all.
Library Week was celebrated as usual with much ado.
EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Extra Curricular activities like Bharathanatyam, Carnatic Music, Karate, Silambam, Cricket, Volley Ball, Chess & Table Tennis are being conducted on a regular basis.
The VME Carnival 2014 was great success. The students made jewellery with paper using the " Quilling" technique. The stocks made by the students & teachers were a sell out, with not even sample pieces remaining!
A new water cooler with RO Unit was purchased with the money collected with funds raised through the Carnival conducted in 2013 & 2014. It has been placed in the new block. I place on record my thanks and appreciation for the efforts put in by the PTA & staff for the smooth conduct of the Carnival.
Parents meetings were held in the month of June, so also the Open House for both semesters. KG Day was held in February.
Most classes have been on their excursions to various venues this year.
A record number of students number of students participated in the Chinmaya Geetha Chanting competition with some of them reaching the Inter School level. The number of participants in the Olympiads has also increased. Asset examinations were conducted in English, Maths & Science.
The annual medical check-up was conducted yesterday for the entire school.
K. Pooja of Class 8 won the II place in the Inter school English essay writing competition conducted by Sathyabama University.
Abijith Haribabu, B. Rithvik & Neeraj R participated in the Spell Bee contest and won certificates & cups for Outstanding Performances.
Students of the High School won the " Overall Championship Shield" at KalaMela, the Inter School Culturals conducted by NSN Memorial School. The primary students won many medals in Festin O Beats, the Interschool cultural of JRK Matriculation school.
Akhilesh Kannan of Class 8 won a bronze medal in the FIIT - JEE Talent Reward Exam.
Dhinakaran and Rithika of class 7 were chosen for the DUKE- TIP programme.
Team HMUN with a contingent of 10 members- Rupa D, Shakti T, Janai M, Janai G, Akhilesh kannan, Nivedha Rangarajan, SreeRanjani R, Padmavathi P, Kenneth Karthik and Karthik S - joined the International delegates at Hyderabad along with their Faculty advisor Mrs. Kodai and came back brimming with confidence and cheer! They represented South Korea.
A team also participated in the SANMUN - The mock UN conducted by Sankara School, Adyar.
We teachers too have been updating ourselves as and when possible!
The whole school underwent training in the creation of projects for smart boards. We have a sizeable number of material now that we use as teaching aid. The next level of training will be done during the second semester.
Hey Math! Conducted their annual refresher course for Maths teachers.
We are in the process of setting up a fully digitised English Language Lab with the help of Encyclopedia Britannica. It will specifically reach out to the CBSE requirements following the LSRW pattern. Teachers are being trained for this also.
Mrs. Subha Rajaraman & Mrs. Jayashree Natarajan attended a workshop on enhancement of Hindi Language.
Mr K. Raman attended a workshop conducted by Samskrita Shilpashaala on the nuances of Sanskrit Language & Literature.
Mrs. Kodai and Mrs. Umamaheshwari attended a workshop on " Biodiversity in they Neighbourhood" conducted by the Association of Geography Teachers of India Trust. The students of classes 8 & 9 did a biodiversity mapping of flora & fauna of the school - the results of which were presented at the seminar.
Mrs. Pown Mary attended an English Language Teachers Workshop conducted by Chennai Sahodaya.
Mrs Susila Sampathkumar, VP Primary, attended a workshop on Teammanship conducted by Chennai Sahodaya.
Mrs.Subha Rajaraman attended a two day training programme conducted by AMTI - Association of Maths Teachers of India.
Mrs. R. Subbulakshmi, Mrs Bhuvaneswari and Mrs. N Jayashree of the Learning Centre attended a refresher course in Learning Disabilities.
Mrs T. Jayapradha attended a 3 day training programme on Enriching education conducted by British Council in New Delhi.
Mrs. Koteeswari Ramesh, Mrs. R. Subbulakshmi, Mrs Swetha S, Mrs. Catherine Diana & Mrs. Menaka Aanantha got certified by Kuruvilla Jacob Initiative for the programme "A Class Apart"- a programme on Learning Disabilities.
Mrs T. Sumathi was awarded a Post Graduate Diploma in Educational Leadership Management.
Mrs. V Lakshmi was gained her Doctorate in Tamil Literature. Her thesis was titled: Kalvettugal
The Principal Mrs Maheshwari Natarajan was invited to be part of an Indian Delegation to Finland, to study their educational systems from KG to the University level. This trip was packed with learning and ideas, some of which are being run on a trial basis here.
The Principal also attended workshops conducted by CAER/CBSE at Gurgoan and Chennai on school based assessments.
The School received an International Schools Award ( ISA) from British Council in November at a glittering function in Kolkatta. The award was received by the Principal and Mrs Jayashree Venkatraman, the ISA Co ordinator. The school went on to apply for a study Grant subsequently, which we cleared with ease, thanks to the efforts of the students and staff. There will be a mutual exchange of staff between VM@E and Churwell Primary School, Leeds, UK, to study academic, curricular and co–curricular processes.
Mrs Latha Balasubramanian of the English Department has qualified to be a trainer for Assessment in Speaking and Listening Skills ( ASL), in the screening done by CBSE. She is proceeding to Cochin for the next level of training next week.
